What makes hunting ammo different from range ammo?

The bullet. Range ammo is usually full metal jacket, built to punch straight through paper and steel cheaply. Hunting bullets are built to expand on impact and put their energy into the animal. Every load in our hunting line uses an expanding bullet - soft point, V-MAX, or A-MAX - not FMJ.

What is the difference between a soft point and a V-MAX?

A soft point has exposed lead at the tip and expands in a controlled way, holding together for deeper penetration on medium game. A V-MAX has a polymer tip over a thin jacket and expands fast and violently, which is what you want on varmints and predators. Match the bullet to the animal.

Is .223 good for hunting?

For varmints and predators - coyote, fox, prairie dog - yes, especially the 55gr V-MAX and soft point. For big game like deer it depends: some states set minimum calibers or bullet types that rule out .223, so check your local regulations before you count on it.

Is .308 a good deer round?

It is one of the most popular deer cartridges there is. Our 150gr soft point is a classic controlled-expansion deer load, and the 168gr A-MAX is a favorite of accuracy-minded hunters on deer and hogs. Both carry plenty of energy at normal hunting ranges.

Can I hunt with 300 Blackout?

Yes. For hunting, reach for an expanding bullet like our 110gr V-MAX - it is well suited to varmints, predators, and smaller hogs at moderate range.
