Blemished ammo - you'll also see it called "2NDs" or cosmetic seconds - is ammunition that failed our visual inspection for a cosmetic reason and nothing else. A little case discoloration, a minor scratch, a small ding. It's loaded to the same spec as the rest of our ammo, it passes the same function and safety checks, and it's backed by the same 5000% Brass-Clad Performance Guarantee. It costs less for one reason: it doesn't look perfect.

What does blemished ammo mean?

Blemished ammo is ammunition with a cosmetic imperfection - case discoloration, a minor scratch, a ding - that failed a visual inspection but nothing else. At AngelFire we also call it "2NDs" or cosmetic seconds. It is loaded and inspected to the same standard as our regular ammo; it just does not look perfect, so it costs less.

Is blemished ammo safe to shoot?

Yes. Our blemished rounds fail visual QC only. Every round is remanufactured to spec and passes the same function and safety inspection as the rest of our ammunition. The flaw is cosmetic, not mechanical.

Does blemished ammo shoot the same?

Yes. It is the same load - same powder charge, primer, bullet, and brass - built to the same spec, with the same range reliability. Overall performance stays consistent with first-run ammo.

Do the cosmetic flaws affect how it shoots?

The flaws are cosmetic only - discoloration, minor scratches, small dings - and none of them affect safety or function. A small dent can very slightly change a round's overall length, so from one round to the next you might feel a faint difference in recoil or report. It is minor, most shooters never notice it, and every round is safe and ready to shoot.

Why is blemished ammo cheaper?

Because it did not pass our visual standard. Rather than scrap a perfectly functional round over a cosmetic flaw, we sell it for less. You are paying for how it shoots, not how it looks.

Is blemished ammo covered by the guarantee?

Yes. Blemished rounds carry the same 5000% Brass-Clad Performance Guarantee as every other round we make - if it does not perform, we make it right.
